Using Common Queries in Find/Change

Use InDesign’s Find/Change dialog (Command-F/Ctrl-F) to clean up text quickly. Choose one of the built-in Queries from the pull-down menu to perform common searches such as replacing double dashes with em-dashes, or changing multiple returns to a single return. The Query menu is separated into Text, GREP, and Object searches – divided by a horizontal line. Use the available searches as a start for your own custom query, make any necessary changes to search criteria, then click the disk icon next to the pull-down menu to save the query for future use.

This is based on a tip I wrote for Design Tools Monthly, the Executive Summary of Graphic Design News.
